Parents sue Amarillo church over sex offender
The parents of 2 children are suing Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo.
They claim their children were sexually abused at church by a child care worker whom church officials had already been warned about.
The lawsuit filed yesterday alleges Paramount did nothing to prevent Patrick Farmer from supervising children or being alone with them despite earlier complaints.
The 40-year-old ultimately pleaded guilty in 2006 to four felony counts of indecency with a child.
He was accused of inappropriately touching at least three girls under the age of 10 from 2000 to 2003. He's now a registered sex offender and not affiliated with the church.
Executive pastor Dave Anderson says he had been unaware of any previous complaints about Farmer's behavior with children.
The church was investigating the lawsuit's claims, which he says are "very serious" and "deeply concerning."
