HiddenMysteries: Medvedev popularity rises to 88% ; Lame Duck GOP Incompetent WingNut Bush gets the 12%

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s popularity has shot up to 88% from 70% before last month’s short war in Georgia, a poll by the Levada Centre in Moscow published yesterday showed.

Asked by the polling centre whether they thought Medvedev – as opposed to his influential mentor Vladimir Putin, the country’s prime minister – held real power, just 9% of Russians answered in the affirmative in July.

That rose to 16% in the latest poll carried out on September 12-15.
The poll showed Putin’s popularity rising too, though less sharply, to 88% from 83% in July.

The Levada Centre surveyed 1,600 Russians and the poll has a margin of error of 3%.
Russian troops surged into Georgia following an attack by Georgian troops on Moscow-backed separatists in South Ossetia. Russia has since recognised the two rebel Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states. – AFP
