HiddenMysteries: Massachusetts DEMOCRAT Lt. Governor Rescues Kids From Burning Van

(If it had been a RepubliCON, they'd have blamed the van fire on Hugo Chavez and Called for the immediate bombing of Venezuela!)

So much to love about this story. Not only do you have the politician jumping into action and actually doing something for people–like pulling kids out of a burning minivan, which is what Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray did in Worcester, Mass., last night.

Murray told the Worcester Telegram he and his wife were driving when they saw smoke pouring from a parked van.

Pulling over, the Murrays heard someone yelling that there were children inside the car. The Lt. Governor did “pretty much what anyone else would have done,” jumping out of his car and rushing to the burning van–two kids and their grandmother inside.

Which brings us to the next fantastic part of the story. The Lt. Governor arrives at her car, and the grandmother is torn: do I thank this guy, or slug him?

“She told me ‘I didn’t know if you were trying to take the kids or take the car. I was about to punch you,’ ” Mr. Murray recalled the unidentified grandmother saying after firefighters arrived to extinguish the left front tire on her van.

Grandmother and kids are fine. No word why the family van caught fire.
