Are Crooks And Thieves Becoming Bolder Or Are They Just Becoming Stupider?

General News

You Make The Call

Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be a substantial increase in the number of really unusual crimes around the United States lately? As the economy continues to go downhill, it seems like crooks and thieves are becoming bolder and bolder. Previously, I have written about how thieves are taking off with anything that is not bolted down these days.

Well, now they are ripping up entire bridges and pulling entire ATMs out of the ground.

Thieves Steal Entire Bridge for Scrap, Forget to Check Steel Prices First

As commodity prices have soared, thefts of said commodities have, too.

Church roofs have gone missing as the price of lead hit all-time highs, used fryer grease has disappeared from behind fast food restaurants and resold for biofuel, and thieves have robbed beauty salons, making off with -- not cash -- but tens, sometimes hundreds, of thousands of dollars worth of hair extensions.

According to this report the “Occupy Wall Street” protests that began in New York City nearly a month ago have now spread to at least 25 other US cities and show no sign of abating any time soon.

Palestinians Take Historic Step to Sovereignty

General News

by Michele Steinberg

President Obama is now a target of hatred among many around the world for his heavy-handed intervention against Palestinian statehood at the United Nations this past week. Obama not only used his speech on Sept. 21 before the UN General Assembly to restate his commitment to veto a resolution giving Palestine UN membership as a sovereign state, but also joined forces directly with the Israel's Netanyahu government to armtwist and threaten members of the UN Security Council who have indicated their intention to vote in favor of membership for Palestine.

Is the U.S. government stockpiling huge amounts of food and supplies in anticipation that something bad is about to happen? Is something about to cause a major economic crisis that will require large quantities of emergency food? U.S. Food Shortages Are Here

General News

'Unavailability' of Livestock Feed

by Marcia Merry Baker

Food shortages have now hit the United States, in addition to the crisis in the international supply chain, which is now consigning millions in Africa to hunger and starvation. U.S. production of wheat, corn, and rice in 2011, are all down from last year. Levels of grain stocks are plunging, and the prospects for next year are grim. This is now manifest in the corn-using livestock feed chain, which can no longer even line up sufficient, or affordable supplies for producers of beef, milk, poultry, and eggs. Thousands of farmers and ranchers are downsizing, quitting, or otherwise facing ruin, liquidating their beef cattle inventory, flocks, and milking herds.

Freedom by Jury

General News

We should be celebrating September 5 with at least as much exuberance and respect as we celebrate July 4 or Thanksgiving. It’s Jury Rights Day.

Little is made of the date. Most people are completely unaware of its historic significance and have never heard that jurors have rights. Yet it was on that date in 1670 when a group of jurors in London used their right and power to invalidate an unjust law.

A Horrific Global Water Crisis Is Coming

General News

Every single day, we are getting closer to a horrific global water crisis. This world was blessed with an awesome amount of fresh water, but because of our foolishness it is rapidly disappearing. Rivers, lakes and major underground aquifers all over the globe are drying up, and many of the fresh water sources that we still have available are so incredibly polluted that we simply cannot use them anymore. Without fresh water, we simply cannot function.

Just imagine what would happen if the water got cut off in your house and you were not able to go out and buy any. Just think about it.

Liberals

"If by a “Liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “Liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “Liberal.” ~ John F.
